MELISSA PEEL GREEVY, ESQUIRE
Ms. Greevy’s practice emphasizes family law and
special education law. Family law clients may select from a menu of
services, including Mediation, Parenting Coordination and Collaborative
Law, and traditional representation. Appointed in 2000, she served
as a Custody Conciliator for the Cumberland County Court of Common
Pleas for more than six years. She has recently been re-appointed and
will serve as a Custody Conciliator beginning in 2012.
Ms. Greevy received her B.A. in psychology from the University
of North Texas in 1977 and her law degree cum laude from Widener University
in 1996. Before entering the practice of law, she worked for fourteen
years as a social worker at the Harrisburg Institute of Psychiatry.
Ms. Greevy received her Family Mediation training in 2000. She has
received advanced mediation training in areas such as Alimony, Custody,
and Dealing with Impasse. In 2003, she was recognized as an Advanced
Practitioner Member of the Association For Conflict Resolution (ACR).
The Advanced Practitioner designation is reserved for family and divorce
mediators who have met strict training and experience requirements.
She served as a consultant to the Perry County Division of the Forty-First
Judicial District in the design of their Custody Conciliation program.
Ms. Greevy was a founding member of the Independent Collaborative Attorneys
of Central Pennsylvania and chaired the group in 2005. Ms. Greevy was
trained as a Parenting Coordinator in 2007 and serves in this role
by Court appointment. Ms. Greevy is a member of the Family Law sections
of the Dauphin County, Cumberland County, and Pennsylvania Bar Associations,
and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She is
on the Bench Bar Committee and has served as Chair of the Custody Committee
of the Cumberland County Bar Association. She is a member of Silver
Spring Presbyterian Church where she has served as a Deacon, participates
in the Prayer Shawl ministry, and has sung in the Chancel Choir.
Education:
Ms. Greevy has lectured on family law, collaborative law, mediation
and parenting coordination issues for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute
and the Lebanon County Custody Conciliators.
